What you will do:
The Sr Industrial Electrician will play a critical role in supporting Electra’s operations by ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical systems across the facility. This role requires strong experience with DC systems and industrial electrical infrastructure, along with a proactive approach to safety and operational readiness.
Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems, with a focus on DC power systems and industrial equipment
Lead the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems including motors, switchgear, rectifiers, and control panels
Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
Ensure all electrical work complies with national and local codes and Electra’s internal standards
Support commissioning and startup of new equipment and systems
Interpret and update electrical schematics, blueprints, and P&IDs
Configure and maintain PLCs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation used in hydrometallurgical processes
Prioritize safety in all tasks and ensure compliance with Electra’s safety protocols, creating a culture where safety is a shared responsibility across the team
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to mitigate risks and ensure safe operation
Mentor junior electricians and collaborate with engineering and operations teams on process improvements
Eventually support Electra’s 24/7 operations by maintaining readiness for shift work, on-call duties, and rapid response to electrical issues at any hour
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate electrical systems into broader plant processes
Assist in training junior technicians and contractors on safe electrical practices and procedures
What we need you to bring to the team
8+ years of experience in industrial electrical systems including DC power
Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E OSHA standards and lockout tagout procedures
Strong understanding of electrical codes safety standards and troubleshooting techniques
Experience working in continuous operations or production environments
Comfortable with on-call responsibilities and responding to urgent issues
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
Completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways leveraging in-depth experience
Works on assignments requiring judgment and initiative, and understands the implications of work to make recommendations for solutions
Encounters problems that are varied and non-routine, requiring basic problem-solving techniques to clearly identify and resolve issues
Scope of impact includes department and team level, with potential influence on related activities outside of immediate work area
Determines methods and procedures for new assignments and may serve as an informal team leader by coaching or mentoring junior employees
Interprets and explains data or information to deliver messages to audiences who may not be familiar with the subject matter
Demonstrates strong communication skills and the ability to adapt style to different audiences
Frequently advises others on complex matters and contributes to the delivery of tactical business targets through team efforts
What we want you to bring to the team
10+ years of industrial electrical experience in mining, metallurgy, or chemical processing, including hands-on work with electrowinning and electrorefining operations
Experience with VFDs, MCCs, and high-voltage equipment
Compensation
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $33-$38 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
