Weston is seeking a Professional Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical or civil engineering related to water and wastewater treatment, conveyance systems, pressurized systems, and piping design. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in designing and installing new systems, renovating existing ones, and working with remediation systems, industrial treatment, manufacturing operations, and drinking water projects. The candidate should have a proven track record in team participation, both in multidisciplinary design and field commissioning, with a strong emphasis on community learning and mentorship. Location: Various Offices in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, West Chester PA, Chicagoland IL, or Concord NH (remote considered for very strong applicants) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Minimum 7 years of related experience. Registered Professional Engineer with an active NCEES account, capable of obtaining registration in additional states as needed. Experience with drinking water facilities, wastewater treatment, conveyance, remediation systems, energy providers, and government clients. Knowledge of conveyance piping and pressurized piping design, including pump sizing, transient pressures, pipe flow, and head loss. Familiarity with environmental consulting, permitting, and compliance. Proficiency with analysis tools and software for evaluating pipe networks and mechanical systems; familiarity with CAD programs like AutoDesk Civil 3D, REVIT, and Plant3D is a plus. Experience in preparing, evaluating, and negotiating construction bids for private and government projects. Strong communication skills for report writing, proposals, and cost estimates. Ability to manage subcontractor and vendor quotes, scopes of work, and project bids. Capability to respond to client RFPs with technical approaches and competitive pricing. Effective communication with engineering staff on technical tasks. Possession or ability to obtain security clearance for Federal work. Willingness to perform site visits and bid walks with effective note-taking and field markup skills. Expected Outcomes: Responsible for engineering work requiring their seal or leadership, ensuring compliance with professional standards. Adhere to Weston’s Engineering Design Quality Manual, guiding project teams and setting expectations. Lead in competencies aligned with their engineering proficiency, maintaining mentorship and contact with mentees. Establish a network of project and program management contacts for outreach and support. Perform engineering calculations and analyses per design criteria and quality standards. Collaborate effectively with team members to complete projects efficiently. Assist in estimating and tracking project costs and schedules. Develop leadership in design within the organization. Review data, reports, designs, and specifications. Conduct quality control checks on designs. Lead proposal efforts and develop project costs. Participate in professional societies and interact with clients on project tasks.
