Civil Engineering Department Manager : Life Sciences - Cary, North Carolina

The position is hybrid and based in Cary, NC, with travel and remote collaboration as needed. Responsibilities

Lead a team of civil engineers and guide projects from conception through construction. Represent and mentor the civil team during design and construction phases; ensure successful execution across projects of various sizes. Work directly with clients, other managers, and cross-disciplinary teams; manage permitting processes and construction details. Support team members and balance multiple priorities; coordinate with engineering disciplines and specialty consultants. Perform quality checks and oversee the work of other design professionals. Ensure knowledge of land development, zoning, and building codes; apply best practices and construction detailing as needed. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering program. Minimum of 15 years of applicable professional experience. Professional Engineer license in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering. Experience organizing and leading a civil engineering/landscape architecture team through project execution (Concept Design, Basis of Design, Detail Design, Procurement, Construction Support). Advanced knowledge of design processes, construction documentation, administration, materials/methods, and land development, zoning, and building codes. Experience with NPDES. Strong understanding of interrelationships between civil design and other disciplines. Experience performing construction administration activities (RFI responses, submittal reviews, field observation reports, punch lists). Willingness to work remotely and engage with geographically distributed team members. Ability to balance multiple priorities and collaborate across disciplines and with consultants. Ability to perform quality checks (and accept/review quality checks by others). Experience supervising other design professionals. U.S. citizen. Preferred Qualifications

Experience on Life Sciences projects (e.g., Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Light Industrial, Light Chemical). Proficiency in 3D visualization tools (e.g., SketchUp). Site planning and land development experience. Familiarity with LEED and sustainable strategies. Proficiency in StormCAD and PondPack. Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or MicroStation), Revit, Civil 3D, and AutoTURN. Note: This position is Hybrid and requires being in the Cary, North Carolina office at least 3 days a week. Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $140,800.00/yr – $215,000.00/yr. Salary is based on skills and experience; discuss with recruiter for details.
