We are seeking a driven, well-organized, and client-focused Civil Engineering Department Manager to lead our civil engineering team in Cary, North Carolina. You will oversee a team of civil engineers supporting projects from conception through construction, ensuring successful project delivery through collaboration across disciplines, including construction. Your role includes representing and guiding the civil team during design and construction phases, mentoring team members, and maintaining strong client relationships. Key responsibilities
Lead and manage civil engineering projects, ensuring quality and compliance with codes and standards. Coordinate with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative environment. Ensure adherence to land development, zoning, and building regulations. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering school. Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience. Professional Engineering license in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Experience leading civil engineering teams through project phases, including design, procurement, and construction support. Strong knowledge of design processes, construction documentation, and codes. Experience with NPDES and civil engineering design interrelationships. Willingness to work remotely and engage virtually with teams. Ability to multitask and coordinate across disciplines. Supervisory experience with design professionals. U.S. citizenship. Preferred qualifications
Experience with Life Sciences projects, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, light industrial, and chemical sectors. Proficiency in 3-D visualization tools like SketchUp. Site planning, land development, and sustainable strategies knowledge. Proficiency in StormCAD, PondPack, AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, AutoTURN. This position is hybrid, requiring at least 3 days a week in the Cary office. Additional information
