Base Pay Range Base pay: $80,000.00/yr – $135,000.00/yr
We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Power Supply Design Engineer
to join our hardware engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and validate high-performance power supply systems ranging from
500W to 10kW . This includes AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converters for a variety of applications in industrial, commercial, or renewable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop switch‑mode power supplies (SMPS) including AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converters from concept through production.
Define power architecture, select components, and create schematics for systems ranging from
500W to 10kW .
Perform simulations, worst‑case analysis, and thermal assessments.
Lead PCB layout design with a focus on power integrity, EMI/EMC compliance, and thermal efficiency.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers.
Conduct lab testing and validation: bring‑up, debugging, and performance characterization.
Ensure designs meet safety (UL, CE) and EMI/EMC regulatory standards.
Support DVT, EVT, and production ramp‑up activities.
Generate and maintain detailed design documentation.
Requirements Must‑Have:
3–10 years of hands‑on experience in power supply design (AC/DC, DC/DC, or DC/AC).
Proven experience designing systems in the
500W to 10kW
range.
Strong background in topologies such as buck, boost, flyback, PFC, full‑bridge, LLC, etc.
Proficiency in PCB design and layout for high‑power circuits using tools like Altium, OrCAD, or similar.
Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal cameras, etc.).
Understanding of thermal management, EMI/EMC design, and compliance testing.
Strong problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred:
Familiarity with digital control of power supplies (e.g., using microcontrollers or DSPs).
Experience with safety certifications (UL, CE, IEC).Exposure to high‑frequency magnetics and transformer design.
Experience with high‑voltage systems (>400VDC or >240VAC).
