Structural Steel Detailer - Job Description A Structural Steel Detailer is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models for the fabrication and erection of steel structures. This role involves working closely with engineers, architects, and fabricators to ensure precise designs that meet industry standards and project specifications. Responsibilities
Drafting & Modeling: Create 2D and 3D steel fabrication drawings using software such as AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or SDS/2. Detailing & Shop Drawings: Develop shop drawings, erection plans, and material lists for structural steel components (beams, columns, braces, etc.). Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and fabricators to ensure accuracy and resolve design issues. Review & Revisions: Interpret architectural and structural plans, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Material & Connection Detailing: Specify welds, bolts, and other connections in accordance with AISC, AWS, and project requirements. Quality Control: Ensure all drawings meet project deadlines, fabrication feasibility, and safety regulations. Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 2-5+ years in structural steel detailing. Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, SDS/2, Revit, or similar detailing software. Industry Knowledge: Understanding of AISC, AWS, and OSHA standards. Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills for reviewing structural plans and specifications. Communication: Ability to coordinate with engineers, fabricators, and project managers. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling). Knowledge of fabrication processes and material specifications. Strong problem-solving and time management skills. Seniority level
