Job Description Reviews project plans, reports, and documents for compliance with City standards and applicable codes. The role involves 90% office work and 10% field inspections, with limited exposure to weather conditions.

Physical Factors Requires frequent reading, writing, and computer use. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, move around the site, and operate city vehicles. Visual acuity and strong verbal and auditory skills are necessary.

Additional Information First consideration may be given to current City of Las Cruces employees who meet all minimum requirements. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee an invitation to participate in the process.

This is a full-time, regular, exempt position graded at RX28.

Responsibilities

Review subdivision plans, permits, and reports for compliance with standards and codes.

Meet with developers and engineers to discuss reviews and standards.

Oversee construction projects and coordinate with project managers.

Manage staff, delegate tasks, and ensure policy adherence.

Prepare reports, analyze data, and stay current with industry trends.

Manage budgets, procurement, and maintain records.

Respond to public concerns regarding development.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with five years of civil engineering experience, including two years municipal experience; or equivalent education and experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license; NM Professional Engineer licensure required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of civil engineering principles, standards, and safety practices. Ability to perform engineering calculations, communicate effectively, and operate relevant tools and vehicles. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
