Essential Job Functions

CLINICAL EDUCATOR FOR NEWLY HIRED STAFF

Responsible for coordinating the onboarding process for all new Organ Procurement (OP) staff Assists with training of all new staff on key clinical responsibilities, to include: Confirming staff member has all tools and equipment needed to start clinical orientation Referral Management Pre-donation evaluation Family approach and authorization Donor case management Allocation Organ Recovery Process Coordinates and implements in-office training including: Consistent check-ins with orientees and preceptors during orientation to track progress and identify concerns. Time management when off-call. Quality responsibilities and donor follow-up. Procedure competencies Provides information technology training and how it pertains to the OP department including but not limited to: TrueNorth UNET TransNet Hospital computer access Docuware Telehealth Applications (Specialist Direct) Coordinates and plans annual competency evaluation and training across all roles, to include: Simulations Wet Labs Skill Development In conjunction with Manager, Clinical Development, conducts annual review of onboarding program to ensure current with MTN SOPs and processes Serves as an active role model for MTN core values by supporting, reinforcing, and exhibiting behaviors consistent with the MTN B-REAL behavioral competencies: belonging, respect, excellence, accountability and leadership.

EDUCATION COORDINATION

Continuously assesses departmental training needs to align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Supports the professional development of staff through structured learning pathways and performance improvement initiatives. In conjunction with Organ Procurement leadership and Corporate Education Department, develops and coordinates education events and competencies for the Organ Procurement department. Serves as a resource to Organ Procurement preceptors and provides ongoing preceptor development in conjunction with Corporate Education. Maintains expert knowledge of OPTN/AOPO/CMS regulations. Collaborates with Corporate Clinical Education Coordinator to ensure educational records and activities are accurately maintained.

CLINICAL

Maintains expert knowledge of all OP processes. Ability to perform onsite clinical work to assess staff competency, provide training and education, and ensure consistency across all clinical roles. Works with OP Leadership to assist with evaluating preceptor skills and ongoing development Monitors OP metrics in conjunction with leadership and provides remedial training when needs are identified Leads annual competency training development and delivery in collaboration with OP and Corporate Education Leadership. Ensures compliance with established quality assurance standards as well as local, state and federal regulations relating to organ procurement to demonstrate commitment to quality. Maintains regular office hours when not onboarding or working in the clinical setting.

Qualifications And Physical Demands

Undergraduate degree in health sciences or equivalent field of study and professional clinical work experience required. RN licensure required. Minimum of three years’ experience working in the field of Organ Procurement or Clinical Nursing Education certification required. CPTC Certification or ability to obtain within two years of hire. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and participate in 24-hour CSS/AOC call. Required to work for extended periods of time with few breaks. Must have the ability to work varied hours (days/nights/weekends) to accommodate trainees. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy. Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines. Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air. Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to function independently and collaboratively; demonstrated problem-solving and creative thinking skills and well-developed personal stress management skills. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and surgical equipment. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information to donor families, hospital staff and transplant/procurement personnel in person or by phone. OSHA Category I – Exposed regularly to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties. Bloodborne pathogens protection is required. Home internet and wireless phone access is required.
