Overview

We have a great opportunity for a Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Columbus, Ohio office and be part of the Geotechnics Group for the Midwest region. As a Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to follow projects from concept through construction, working on current and upcoming design-bid-build and design-build projects in highways, rail, water, environmental, ports, and advanced facilities sectors. Your impact: lead geotechnical aspects associated with the design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, and slope stabilizing measures. You will also be responsible for coordination and generation of geotechnical-based specifications and preparation of data, baseline, and interpretative reports. Final candidate could be located in Columbus, Cleveland or Cincinnati, OH, with Columbus preferred. Responsibilities

Lead geotechnical aspects of design for shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, and slope stabilization measures. Coordinate and generate geotechnical specifications; prepare data, baseline, and interpretative reports. Follow projects from concept through construction on highways, rail, water, environmental, ports, and advanced facilities projects. Collaborate with project teams in design-bid-build and design-build environments. Qualifications

BS in Civil or Geological Engineering 5-10 years of geotechnical consulting experience Professional Engineering (PE) license Experience with ODOT projects and standards Ability and willingness to visit and safely navigate construction and project sites and comply with all applicable safety codes and requirements Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience with exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing of soil and rock Knowledge of design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and slope improvement Preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications Proficient with Microstation and/or AutoCAD Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., SLIDE, SETTLE3D, LPILE, APILE, Shaft, FB Multipier, DeepEx, GRLWEAP) Preferred

The base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $145,000.00. Within the range, pay is determined by work location and factors including job-related skills, experience, and education or training. The base pay range is provided by Jacobs; final pay depends on your recruiter discussion. Additional information
