Project Geotechnical Engineer
to join our geotechnical practice in our
Johnson City, TN
office. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving design and construction, coal combustion residuals, dam and levees, and geotechnical analysis.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.
Some Of The Key Responsibilities May Include
Civil design and site layout; Monitoring heavy civil construction projects; Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage; Dam and levee evaluations; Geotechnical and site characterization; Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems; Project/task management and proposal preparation support; Developing construction documents; Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.
Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field. (required) Advanced degree in the same. (preferred) Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G.) (required)
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
At least 7 years directly relevant experience in a consulting environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (e.g., slope stability). (required) Knowledge of numerical modeling tools. (preferred) Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required) Excellent writing and communication skills. (required) Field work and overnight travel may be required. Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required. Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
