About Redwood Materials Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We develop and deploy new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain. Position Overview Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Senior Mechanical Engineer to support pilot projects and commercial-scale production operations. This engineer will lead continuous improvement projects across multiple manufacturing lines. The final job title and level will depend on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Responsibilities: Lead the specification, procurement, and implementation of capital equipment. Design tooling and fixtures. Review and provide input on new process and equipment designs. Partner with the mechanical development team to transition new processes and equipment into manufacturing. Create and own process work instructions and standard operating procedures. Train manufacturing personnel on new processes and equipment. Analyze process data and metrics to improve safety, quality, and cost. Troubleshoot and resolve process and equipment issues. Identify and execute continuous improvement projects. Qualifications: B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 5-7 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer. Strong mechanical aptitude, including understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing. Organizational and project management skills; previous project management experience preferred. Experience leading capital acquisition processes. Experience with industrial-scale processes and automation. Analytical problem-solving skills. Experience with statistical data analysis and reporting. Knowledge of process/equipment validation processes. Technical writing skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Solid Modeling 3D CAD experience preferred. Passion for sustainability. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform duties safely in office and production environments. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Regular, punctual attendance. Clear communication skills. Working Conditions: Combination of office and production facility work. Extended periods in production environment, with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, protected by PPE. Occasional weekend or shift work may be required.
