Duane Reade is seeking a dynamic, flexible, and motivated team player to join our management team as a Shift Leader. We offer a fast-paced, challenging environment and provide tools, training, and support to help our Shift Leaders succeed in leading a Duane Reade store. The role involves assuming general responsibility for the store in the absence of the assistant manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage store financial performance, cash control, inventory, safety, customer service, and staff management.
Support the assistant manager in executing company initiatives.
Lead by example to ensure superior customer service.
Maintain price integrity and compliance with weights and measures.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, legal requirements, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
Maintain positive relationships with staff, vendors, union officials, and corporate personnel.
Ensure marketing initiatives, store conditions, and planograms meet corporate standards.
Plan and coordinate staff activities using effective time management.
Ensure the store is well-stocked and products are rotated properly.
Foster a friendly, harassment-free work environment.
Motivate and lead staff to achieve common objectives.
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
Six months of prior work experience with Duane Reade with a performance evaluation on file, or one year of retail experience as a key carrier or shift leader (external candidates).
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Must have an “Achieves Expectations” rating on the last performance review.
Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
