What You Will Do
Senior Transportation Planning Engineer - Project Manager
role at GFT leads transportation planning and engineering projects across Texas. This role manages multimodal transportation projects, performs design and analysis, leads NEPA work, coordinates client and agency programs, mentors staff, manages budgets and schedules, and supports business development.
Responsibilities
Design roadway alignments, feasibility studies, and preliminary engineering for NEPA documentation.
Develop and conduct public involvement programs with local agencies and TXDOT.
Prepare cost estimates and required technical reports for multimodal planning and preliminary engineering.
Mentor and train junior staff and participate in training programs.
Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and client relationships. Conduct production scheduling, growth visioning, and project budgeting.
Participate in business development activities and develop proposals for project pursuits.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
8-15 years of progressive industry experience with public sector clients.
Experience with corridor studies, mobility plans, grants, traffic engineering, preliminary engineering, cost estimation, rail grade separation planning, and design.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Independent and collaborative work style.
Project management capabilities – scope work, budgets, schedules, and meeting materials.
Knowledge of project management procedures, tools, and software.
GIS, CAD, Synchro, and Highway Capacity Manual proficiency.
Master’s Degree with a Transportation Focus (preferred).
Compensation The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $190,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
