Controls Engineering New Grad
in Omaha, NE and start your career designing advanced automation and control systems that make industrial processes safer, smarter, and more efficient. You will collaborate with engineers across disciplines, work directly with clients, and gain hands-on experience in both office-based design and onsite system commissioning. From developing PLC/SCADA programming to supporting field start-ups, this role offers a balance of technical design, problem-solving, and real-world implementation—along with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow from day one.
Principal Responsibilities
Complete moderate-complexity engineering tasks
Design and analyze control systems (network, motor starters, PLC, SCADA, enclosures)
Produce project drawings and documents (schematics, loop drawings, IO lists, schedules)
Assist Project Designer with engineering solutions and control system design
Provide hardware and software specifications
Use engineering tools to create designs, specs, and calculations per code and IMEG standards
Support project planning, scheduling, and execution
Document design decisions and monitor progress
Analyze engineering tasks and propose solutions with senior support
Participate in IMEG quality control processes
Stay current with electrical engineering trends and contribute to R&D
Prioritize safety and identify risks in electrical systems
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
Engineering in Training (EIT) License preferred
AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Knowledge of controls symbols and documents such as P&ID (Process & Instrumentation Diagram) drawings and symbols
Strong technical and analytical skills with hands-on experience in network systems (Ethernet/IP, fiber, POE, RS232/485, switches), PLC systems (processors, I/O, HMI/SCADA, analog/digital signals), electrical circuits (AC/DC, voltage drop, wiring, protection devices), and motor starters (FVNR, FVR, soft starts, VFDs, overload and grounding detection)
Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools; familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written forms to individuals or groups
Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Controls Team Highlights
Design and program PLC and SCADA systems for industries like water treatment, manufacturing, and chemical processing
Work on both sides of the project: develop schematics and specifications in the office, then help implement and test them onsite
Gain experience with AutoCAD Electrical, P&ID creation, and industrial automation programming (Rockwell and other platforms)
Collaborate closely with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers to deliver fully integrated solutions
Locations available Omaha, NE Urbandale, IA
Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
