Structural Engineer role at Dashiell Corporation in Madison, WI. Dashiell is a national provider of technical services to the electric utility, power generation, industrial, renewable and energy industries, offering planning and systems studies, design and engineering, maintenance and testing, program management, construction, and turnkey EPC projects. Location: 2908 Marketplace Drive Suite 100, Madison, WI 53719. Dashiell is a turnkey Engineering, Construction, and Testing company that specializes in medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure. Primary Function

Provides design services for projects involving Substation Engineering and Transmission Engineering for High Voltage Electric facilities. Interfaces with other discipline project leads, client engineering and construction managers, surveying and geotechnical engineering vendors, and equipment and structure vendors. Responsibilities

Work with project team to create or modify all civil and structural design documents. Develop steel and foundation detail drawings. Apply engineering application software for the design of structural steel and foundations. Use project specific standards and ensure that design efforts progress efficiently. Perform engineering and design functions to meet project schedules. Communicate and coordinate project activities with customer representatives, project team, and management. Ensure correct application of engineering standards including the NESC, ASCE, IBC, AISC and ACI. Properly use the document management system. Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work. Travel out of town for short periods as required by projects and assignments. Other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent degree with experience in the Civil Engineering field, is required. Candidates must be a licensed professional engineer, or able to obtain licensure within one year of hire. If registered in a state other than where the engineer will practice, the individual must be able to obtain a license within one year of hire. Direct experience and proven knowledge in concrete and steel structural engineering is required. A minimum of three years of direct experience in concrete and structural steel engineering is required. Experience in the electric utility industry is preferred. Skills and Certifications

Experience with design of cantilevered utility structures, towers, and masonry single-story buildings as well as foundations found in electric substations or similar facilities. Knowledge of steel and concrete design, structural analysis, and knowledge of substation and transmission line components and their functions. Strong knowledge of engineering software; Experience with RISA 3D, PLS-Tower or STAAD Pro is preferred. Extensive knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, ASCE, IBC, AISC and ACI. Knowledge of civil and structural design documents and drawings for substation or transmission projects. Proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with coworkers, vendors, and clients. Physical Requirements

Minimal physical effort required. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (up to 8 hours a day). Primarily indoor work with occasional outdoor exposure to year-round weather conditions and noise. Willingness to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (approx. 10%). Extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically. May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
