Location 2300 Hutson Drive, Asplund Wastewater Treatment Facility

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

State of Alaska Wastewater Treatment Operator Level I certification within one (1) year of hire.

State of Alaska Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with satisfactory driving record and no Air Brake restriction at time of hire.

Satisfactory drug screening at time of hire.

American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within six (6) months of hire (Levels III and IV).

Background check at time of hire (criminal, education, employment history).

Proficiency operating system equipment, motor vehicles, forklift, skid loader, lawn mower, snow blower, dump trucks and tanker trucks.

Advanced PC technology skills (Word, Excel).

Knowledge of MAXIMO, WORK TECH Time, WIMS, and AWWU SCADA system.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plant systems, including well production and water distribution systems.

Perform preventive and minor maintenance tasks.

Work independently with less direct supervision as proficiency level increases.

Work varying shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet municipal treatment needs.

Participate in major emergencies or disasters per the disaster plan matrix, which may include 12-hour shifts lasting 72+ hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Assist in training other operators; may serve as plant-in-charge crew leader, controlling and checking work for accuracy and conformity with procedures and regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned.
