Position Overview
We are seeking a Controls Engineer experienced in automation and manufacturing systems to support Error Proofing Platform (EPP). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial control systems, PLC programming, and manufacturing process validation. EPP experience is a must—candidates without it will be screened accordingly during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
Design, program, and integrate Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 PLCs for EPP-controlled stations.
Configure, deploy, and validate EPP/SEP applications within GM’s GCCS-2 framework.
Develop and maintain logic for error detection, task validation, and redundancy (Main/Backup/Alternate Tools).
Interface with SQL Server, Rockwell RSLinx, and GE Fanuc CIMPLICITY HMI for data handling and visualization.
Support cell controllers, I/O devices, and operator interfaces (light stacks, bypass/release keys, etc.).
Troubleshoot system faults, perform runtime simulations, and ensure compliance with GM EPP standards.
Collaborate with manufacturing, IT, and quality teams to maintain robust automation and production quality.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent).
2–5+ years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation.
Strong background in PLC logic development (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Studio 5000).
Experience with networked control systems, Ethernet I/O mapping, and IO-Link.
Proven understanding of EPP/SEP or similar error-proofing automation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with General Motors EPP systems.
Familiarity with GCCS-2 and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
Experience with SQL database integration, CIMPLICITY HMI, or RSLinx communications.
