Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in architectural and/or construction experience to join our team as a Construction Inspector. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction codes and standards, the ability to identify and correct construction defects, and the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences. The candidate will be responsible for inspecting construction projects to ensure that they are built according to plans and specifications. This position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Inspect ongoing construction projects and document the conditions with photos and field reports.
Inspect existing properties and troubleshoot failures and defects in existing structures and site facilities.
Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills.
Prepare detailed reports and other documentation.
Perform take-offs and prepare budgets for construction projects.
Perform research for identifying and solving problems.
Prepare remedial design plans and specifications for properties.
Communicate with clients, contractors, other inspectors and supervisors regarding projects.
Ability to work in the field and to travel outside local area, depending on workload and project locations.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license.
Background in construction trades
Reliable vehicle for travel to and from job site.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Independent and critical thinking abilities.
The ability to work logically and systematically, with good time management.
Basic IT literacy and the ability to manage and communicate electronic data.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills, plus the ability to speak laterally.
Self-starter who can work independently and with team members.
