Starting salary to commence at $50,865 - $54,488 except in extenuating circumstances. General Statement of Job

Performs skilled labor involving the maintenance and repair of city park facilities and associated components. City Expectations

Certain essential city services are required to be maintained in any civil emergency. Depending upon the type of emergency, any and all employees may be activated as essential employees in the event of an emergency. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Troubleshoots and repairs plumbing/sewage problems including plumbing systems for pools/fountains. Prepares and paints interior/exterior surfaces and installs drywall or creates forms for concrete footings. Repairs / replaces lighting, timers, switches and/or electrical outlets. Troubleshoots electrical problems in city park facilities. Inspects city park assets and documents deficiencies requiring repair. Prioritizes and schedules repairs based on severity and risk to public or property. Performs quarterly inspections of city-owned/county-maintained parks with Sarasota County staff to identify safety and maintenance issues. Performs weekly inspections of playground equipment to ensure public safety. Installs, services, overhauls and repairs pumps, motors and fans for city-maintained park facilities. Installs and maintains video security systems at various locations. Repairs, installs and upgrades street and sidewalk lights. Maintains cleanliness of shop, work areas, city vehicles and equipment. Responsible for staying current with advances in industry technology and practices. Safely and efficiently drives and operates city vehicles as required. Transports supplies, tools, or other material to and from job site. In addition to the functions performed at Level I, a Parks Facility Maintenance Specialist II: Monitors and schedules repairs for street clocks, electric vehicle charging stations, and low voltage LED lighting to ensure conformance with specifications and safety practices. Troubleshoots and adjusts variable frequency drive for air handler at City Hall. Monitors and repairs programmable logic controllers for nozzle, pump and lighting controls at the Interactive Fountain. Assist city’s Irrigation Technician with well control and sensor issues. Calibrates and regulates chlorine, pH analyzer, chemical injectors, and flowmeter at the Interactive Fountain. Coordinates the activities of contractors for park facility projects. Maintains inventory of spare parts to ensure adequate supply of specialized items for efficient maintenance operations. Operates special tools and equipment to perform diagnostics, maintenance and repairs of city park equipment and amenities. Responsibilities

Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of work assignments following established safety practices. Responsible for personal safety and proper use/care/maintenance of tools/equipment used. Responsible in work to the Public Works Facilities, Parks & Maintenance Superintendent. Minimum Education and Training

Level I (Grade 126) High school graduate or equivalent and three (3) years maintenance experience related to areas of relevant operations and functions including electric pumps and control systems maintenance and repair. Ability to obtain Public Swimming Pool Technician and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certifications within one (1) year from date of hire. Must possess a valid Florida class "B" Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements and free of any serious violations. Level II (Grade 128) High school graduate or equivalent and five (5) years maintenance experience related to areas of relevant operations and functions including electric pumps and control systems maintenance and repair. Possess and maintain Public Swimming Pool Technician, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT), Playground Safety Inspector and confined space certifications. Must possess a valid Florida class "B" Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements and free of any serious violations. Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required

Skill Requirements: Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in facilities maintenance and repair techniques. Must be able to work independently of direct supervision and capable of sustaining regular and predictable attendance. Ability to operate small machinery and hand tools used in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and pump/control repair. Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and maintain/interpret records, prints, maps, plans, and diagrams. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the general public. Requires a working knowledge of the current version of the Microsoft Office Professional software suite including proficiency with Word and Excel. Must have a basic understanding of the current version of the Microsoft Windows operating system. Familiarity with CentralSquare Software applications based on an iSeries system is preferred. Working knowledge of current versions of Internet browsers and Microsoft Outlook is also highly recommended. Ability to learn specific computer applications used in the Department. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds. Physical exertion large part of job. Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather and for prolonged periods of time.
