As a
Manufacturing Optimization Engineer
at
PPG Aerospace , working onsite at our Huntsville manufacturing facility, you will support transformational projects in transparency assembly. This entry-level role combines Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering principles to improve processes, enhance digital integration, and increase operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Manufacturing & Process Engineering Leader, you will have hands-on experience with Lean manufacturing processes and collaborate across teams and with production staff. Key Responsibilities
Lead transition from single-operator builds to phased, team-based assembly processes. Redefine routings, labor standards, work instructions, and tooling requirements. Modify work cells and auxiliary processes to support new workflows. Lead small-scale automation and digital tool deployment projects. Support sitewide Digital Transformation and MES implementation. Identify and integrate main product, quality, and performance data into MES. Apply Lean tools (e.g., value stream mapping, time studies) to improve throughput and efficiency. Collaborate to resolve production issues and lead strategic improvements. Lead ergonomic projects to enhance employee safety and comfort. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline. 1+ years of relevant manufacturing experience (internships/co-ops included). The ability to create clear work instructions for non-technical audiences. Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or databases.
