Overview Technical Service Engineer at TekniPlex. Located in Madison, WI. TekniPlex Healthcare specializes in the manufacturing of medical and pharmaceutical packaging for companies worldwide. Our aim is to deliver better patient outcomes by manufacturing products that enable less invasive procedures, reduced pain, faster healing, and safer drug delivery.

Responsibilities

Interfacing with customer manufacturing, quality, and development teams to identify, market, and deliver innovative, reliable solutions to current issues and future needs.

Support customers, R&D, procurement, quality, sales, and marketing teams through active project management, validations, and data development and analysis.

Conduct and approve equipment validations, product line extensions, raw material equivalents, new products, and plant processes using data analysis.

Support the sales/marketing functions with clear and concise data in professional reports and on-site support, including trade show attendance.

Support the quality function by finding root causes to issues and validating solutions; conduct trials and testing to define product performance.

Work with customers to optimize product use in their processes; conduct field trials, customer training/visits, and follow-up lab testing and reports.

Develop and maintain expert knowledge of TekniPlex products and applications; develop good relationships with customers, peers, and other personnel.

Identify, propose, and execute projects to improve customer satisfaction, product reliability, performance consistency, and cost effectiveness.

Assist or develop training and quality documentation.

Promote worker safety and participate in safety audits and plant-wide safety initiatives; maintain housekeeping standards.

Support quality policies and the Quality System; assist with customer quality audits as needed; ensure work meets internal and external specifications.

Participate in continuous improvement processes (CIP) to reduce costs, improve products/processes, and streamline operations; participate in CIP teams and training.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (equivalent education and/or experience considered).

Five years of experience in regulated markets (pharmaceutical, medical, or food). Packaging and/or packaging vendor markets are a plus.

Ability to understand materials analytical techniques and how to predict performance, equivalency, or product variation; familiarity with packaging testing (seal strength, porosity, basis weight, etc.).

Understanding of numerical analytical techniques and their application to predict performance and product variation.

Experience implementing Statistical Process Control and/or lean manufacturing in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Engineering/Manufacturing Procedure & Work Instruction writing.

Ability to learn and comply with FDA/GMP regulations and ISO/TS audits; experience with SPC in manufacturing.

Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, Zero Defect, Kaizen, Kanban, SMED background.

Day and overnight travel up to 20% to visit customers.

SQL database or programming experience is a plus.

Skills & Abilities Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical procedures, blueprints and drawings; effectively present information to individuals and groups.

Physical & Work Environment The job may involve standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to typical manufacturing environments. Reasonable accommodations provided as needed.
