Overview
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining supplier quality and partnerships through quality standards and controls throughout the JBT supply base. This position will ensure that suppliers implement and continually drive quality emphasizing defect prevention and continuous improvements to meet JBT quality, engineering, and regulatory standards. This will be done by working directly with suppliers and internal cross-functional stake holders to develop and implement quality policies and procedures, drive problem solving with effective resolutions, and utilize risk assessment mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities
Provide functional leadership for Supplier Quality for the JBT Sandusky facility.
Drive improvement in supplier quality and delivery performance.
Align roles and responsibilities between supplier quality and the balance of the organization in order to optimize effectiveness by working with site Supply Chain, Quality and Operations teams.
Support implementation of JBT’s Corporate Supplier Quality Manual.
Develop and facilitate the roll out of standard practice and procedures for all supplier quality aspects to ensure set performance metrics are being achieved.
Align with Sourcing on the approval of a new supplier to JBT and validate quality and procedures.
Conduct Supplier Quality Training at Suppliers facilities with regards to specific customer quality standards, expectations, and requirements as well as new product development.
Conduct Supplier Audits to verify effectiveness of implemented corrective action plans.
Align supply base to achieve quality objectives.
Establish effective methods of communication utilizing JBT established processes, dashboards, converting data into information.
Supplier Corrective Action Review
Overall process ownership for resolving non-conformances utilizing the MRR / VRMA process.
Perform risk containment for non-conformances.
Work with vendors to identify root cause(s) and sustainable effective corrective actions.
Audit and identify areas of opportunity in supplier processes.
Work with suppliers to provide a rapid response to major supplier quality issues that could impact production.
Utilize the A3 problem solving methodology.
Supplier Performance and Continuous Improvement
Perform failure analysis on non-conformances to identify key suppliers and components.
Initiate, aid and track supplier’s continuous improvement Initiatives.
Work closely with Suppliers to aid in process improvements that focus on eliminating waste, cost reduction and lead-time improvements.
Responsible for improving poor performing suppliers bases on quality and delivery scorecard review.
Assist suppliers to employ VAVE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering), Kaizen activities, Lean Deployment, PDCA / Six Sigma methodologies to drive out waste.
Supplier First Article Submissions / NPD (New Product Development)
Support in supplier sourcing process for new programs or resourcing.
Support in smooth launch for new programs, NPD.
Coordinate and communicate critical characteristic expectations and review deliverables.
Track and communicate conformance for those identified parts that require formal inspection, pertain to critical characteristics etc.
Responsible for ensuring inspection data and reports are received from Suppliers and retained appropriately.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical degree required.
Minimum 5 years of experience in technical quality support, interaction with different levels of management of clients.
Strong understanding and experience of working to IATF16949 and / or ISO 9000 standards.
Demonstrated working knowledge of core quality tools including Process control plans, process flow diagrams, FMEA, SPC, APQP.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Proficient in problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa analysis, Six Sigma, A3 etc.) required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, relationship building, and project management skills.
Ability to travel, less than 25%.
Preferred
Advanced knowledge of statistical software such as Minitab or equivalent system.
Tableau experience.
Microsoft Azure experience a plus.
