Product Manager, Payment Acceptance – Active Advantage
1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicants
We’re looking for a Product Manager with deep expertise in the payments ecosystem to own and improve credit‑card transaction acceptance for Active Advantage, our global membership program. This role goes beyond traditional product management—it’s about mastering the details of issuers, acquirers, merchant IDs, BIN behavior, and descriptor strategy to raise approval rates and reduce friction. You’ll design granular dashboards to monitor performance at the issuer, bank, BIN, and client‑cohort levels, identify patterns, and work directly with processors, networks, and internal teams to deliver measurable, data‑driven improvements in payment success and customer experience.
Rather than focusing on feature delivery, this role centers on payment performance—ensuring every attempted transaction has the highest possible chance of approval across all markets and card networks.
Summary of This Role This role provides strategic and operational direction for Active Advantage, an eight‑figure annual recurring revenue membership product within Active Network’s consumer portfolio. The Product Manager – Payment Acceptance is responsible for ensuring that customer transactions succeed consistently and compliantly across all markets.
What Part Will You Play?
Serve as the product owner for payment acceptance across all Active Advantage merchant accounts and regions.
Partner with Global Payments, Finance, and Engineering to monitor, analyze, and improve transaction authorization performance.
Design, maintain, and continuously refine deeply detailed dashboards that monitor payment outcomes at multiple levels—including issuer, bank, BIN, processor, merchant ID, and customer cohort.
Analyze patterns by agency and client groupings to understand where acceptance varies and lead structured initiatives to close performance gaps.
Work directly with payment partners to optimize presentment strategy (including MCC, descriptor, routing, and retry logic).
Ensure all payment activity complies with regional recurring‑payment regulations in the U.S., U.K., and Australia.
Collaborate with Data and Finance to reconcile payment data and improve transaction visibility, accuracy, and reporting reliability.
Translate findings into business recommendations that directly improve recurring revenue capture, customer retention, and card network reputation.
Partner with other product teams using shared infrastructure to standardize best practices in acceptance monitoring and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in payments, acquiring, or financial operations, ideally with exposure to recurring billing or large‑scale e‑commerce.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and act on authorization, settlement, and chargeback data.
Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with data, engineering, and finance teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working for or with a payment processor, acquiring bank, card network, or large‑scale merchant.
Familiarity with key payment concepts including issuer response codes, BIN behavior, merchant category codes (MCC), charge descriptor optimization, and retry logic.
Proficiency in data visualization or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker, Tableau, SQL).
Experience designing or managing dashboards that track granular transaction metrics and trends.
Understanding of regional compliance obligations for recurring billing and refunds.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical detail into actionable insight.
