We are looking for an Operational Technology Manager who will join our Supply Chain Engineering team remotely. This position will be based remotely anywhere in North America.
This role may have up to 50% travel required during peak times and should average 35%. The incumbent will perform a combination of Work from Home and travel to Scotts Miracle-Gro manufacturing sites. There are approximately 50 sites across the US and Canada. The Operational Technology Manager is responsible for building the strategy, identifying opportunities to improve production/quality/safety, communicating the vision and leading the implementation of operational technology within Scotts. They will be the subject matter expert for operational technology and work with stakeholders across the organization to understand the needs of initiatives that involve operational technology and align to an optimal solution based on time to implement, fit, and cost. This role will be an integral, high visibility position within the Global Supply Chain function helping to propel Scotts Miracle-Gro into the future.
Job Summary
In this role you will: Be responsible for building the strategy, identifying opportunity, communicating the vision and leading the implementation of operational technology within Scotts Lead multiple paths of Operational Technology: Planning, setting goals and executing for: Plant network architecture; Hardware, software and coding standards, applications; Cybersecurity Communicate the vision of Operational Technology to all levels of the organization and all internal and external stakeholders; Create roadmap of Operational Technology aligned with the overall Automation and Supply Chain strategies and be responsible for ownership of the roadmap. Report out on a regular basis on the status of current and planned projects to all levels of leadership. Present regular project updates to key stakeholders, including Sr. leadership. Identify, lead, and advocate for operational technology opportunities. This involves identifying needs, scoping projects, building business cases and leading projects to deliver solutions. Lead multiple simultaneous projects from start (business case) through successful completion developing contractors, vendors, and internal resources; identifying work to be done and resources needed. Identify and partner with stakeholders to understand project requirements and define the parameters to ensure delivery of high quality solutions. Identify other parts of the organization that you will need to collaborate with to support and contribute to project success. Develop standards for OT hardware and PLC/HMI programming to aid in standardized data collection. Collaborate with other parts of the organization to identify needs within Operational Technology to accomplish business goals, creating a plan and executing on those plans. Partner with other parts of the organization, especially IT, to develop a solution for plant floor network infrastructure, OT cybersecurity, and hardware and software standards that provide a scalable OT solution for the entire enterprise. What you’ll need to be successful
Bachelors Degree in engineering or related technical field required Understanding of ISA-95 and ISA-99 in a manufacturing environment Industrial Robotics (Fanuc preferred) 7 - 10 Years of experience preferred. Emphasis for this position is on subject matter expertise more than overall years of experience. The aforementioned skills would need at least 4 years of deep experience minimum. 7 years experience preferable. Knowledge of ISA-95/IEC-62264 to design and build plant floor networks, including firewalls, layer 2 and 3 switching and remote access solutions. Knowledge of ISA-99/IEC-62443 to design cyber and physical security for the plant floor. Understanding of industrial networking protocols like Ethernet I/P, Profinet, DeviceNet, CIP and Modbus TCP/IP as well as legacy methods like DH+. Familiarity with industrial asset inventory methods, both automated and manual. Experience with replacing legacy automation hardware with modern versions. Understanding of PLC/HMI/SCADA programming Demonstrated leadership experience managing multiple projects in a collaborative environment Excellent ability to build and maintain relationships across a network of sites and corporate support functions Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, organization, and technology utilization skills Proven ability to handle changing priorities while maintaining a sense of urgency Strong business acumen with a track record of leading change and delivering results The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $125,000.00 - $147,100.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs. For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
