As a Project Manager, you, in partnership with the Project Architect and Project Designer, are accountable for project financial performance and team communication. Manage one or more projects during all phases until completion and direct employees and consultants at all levels to ensure that work is completed as planned, budgeted, scheduled, and in conformance with design intent. Work closely with clients to manage project expectations and collaborate with the PIC to manage clients. Lead and participate in project leadership activities and coordinate with the Project Leadership Team. Leadership
Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team. Participates on and/or leads multiple project teams as Project Manager. Assists senior management in developing and validating project scope, fee, budget, and scope of services during marketing and contract development. Assists in preparing project presentations and may participate in and/or lead client presentations. Maintains complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and the project team. Manages projects using Deltek Project Management; completes work plans in Deltek, including identification of project team members, budget, consultants, schedule, fees and costs, and project change notices. Assists senior management in the preparation and execution of consultant contracts and in negotiating fees and contracts. Ensures budgets include provisions for Quality Management throughout the project lifecycle and incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions. Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable practices. Fosters a culture of external and internal client service. Management
Works with Project Architect to avoid or eliminate schedule conflicts due to changes in projects. Plans, organizes, and manages projects with ongoing team communication through meetings, minutes, and update memos. Coordinates with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines to ensure effective communication. Monitors construction administration during the construction phase. Develops and maintains positive relationships with consultants and clients. Client Interface
Maintains client relationships throughout the project and keeps clients apprised of progress. Initiates and maintains contact with key project stakeholders for clarification, coordination, and negotiation of critical issues. Interprets client function and spatial requirements and provides design information, including specifications, materials, costs, and construction time. Plans layouts and integrates engineering elements into a unified design for client review and approval. Business Development
Participates in developing the annual business plan for the Regional Practice. Identifies new business opportunities while nurturing current client relationships and pursuing new projects. Participates in selected marketing and business development opportunities and assists in developing fee proposals for marketing efforts. Staff Development
Provides leadership, professional development coaching, and mentoring for staff. Defines staff requirements for projects and makes recommendations for promotions or terminations; may participate in interviews and recruitment. Required Skills
Terminal and concourse design and management experience (HUB airport experience preferred). Ability to work effectively in a team, multi-task, and adjust assignments as needed. Proven communication and leadership skills. Strong knowledge of design trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness. Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines. Thorough understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets. Thorough knowledge of building information modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). Ability to manage multiple projects of complex scope and strong CAD drafting skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop; Primavera or MS Project; Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., 3D Studio Max, Viz) and graphic software (Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, InDesign); Deltek Vantagepoint proficiency; Revit as required for Project Leaders. Strong verbal and written communication and ability to meet deadlines. Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred. At least 7 years of architectural practice with prior management experience across all project phases through post-occupancy. Experience with aviation projects required. Licensed Architect or Interior Designer preferred where licensure is offered; NCARB or NCIDQ registration preferred. LEED GA or LEED AP accreditation required within 12 months of employment.
