Customs Compliance Specialist
The Customs Compliance Specialist operates at a high level of efficiency conducting the department's tasks, including managing import and export blocks in the system, broker communication for ISF and entries, HTS / ECCN Classification and post-entry work, as needed. The Customs Compliance Specialist works to minimize disruption to Q's supply chain by proactively addressing regulatory requirements. This position reports to the Customs Compliance Manager, who reports to the General Counsel. The position interacts with departments across Q.
WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR :
Conduct pre & post entry compliance reviews and communication / direct liaison with Customs brokers to ensure proper classification, valuation, manufacturer and country of origin is reported accurately. Preparation of Customs protest, post-entry amendments, duty drawback, and reconciliation. Conduct product research for HTS codes in the US, Canada, Taiwan, as well as ECCN classification, and country of origin. Provide support for Special Order Processing department to ensure compliant export shipment. Collect, track, and review vendor documentation for CTPAT risk assessment. Request and maintain USMCA certificates of origin and other applicable FTA documentation, as well as PGA declarations. Manage import and export blocks within the SAP GTS system. Screen SPL for all QBP business partners and employees. Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers, coworkers, vendors and service providers. Excellent knowledge / skills on Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to develop ideas, coordinate tasks and meet deadlines. Takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Demonstrated ability to identify, research and analyze customs compliance issues Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Desire and ability to learn and continuously improve Problem solver, innovative and possess critical thinking skills Ability to successfully navigate gray-area decision-making. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer a minimum of 3-4 years' experience in the import / export industry (e.g. importer, exporter, international freight forwarder or Customs house broker) or a bachelor's degree in a related field, such as supply chain, logistics, business or international business. Experience with trade compliance software such as GTS, S4Hana, OMB. Experience CTPAT program management. Experience with Canada import requirement.
