This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to the Cole Engineering Center Podium location three times per week (Tues, Wed, Thurs), at minimum. We are looking for a Senior Wireless Test Engineer to specialize in testing and validating Wi-Fi, BLE, Bluetooth, and UWB technologies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in wireless standards, testing methodologies, and hands-on experience with relevant test equipment. Job Requirements:
Experience in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, BLE technologies. Script and parser developer, with strong automation skills for testing and validation of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, and UWB). Write Test Plans Conduct comprehensive testing of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, and UWB connectivity, including stress tests, performance benchmarking, and interoperability assessments with a variety of devices. Extensive experience with CAN, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and software tools (e.g., test automation frameworks) to perform hands-on testing and analysis. Define hardware, software, cloud, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and vehicle interface by working with cross-functional teams. Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to define testing requirements and troubleshooting methods. Provide technical expertise to design and improve testing workflows, tools, and methodologies for Wi-Fi, BLE, and UWB protocols. Create detailed module-level functional requirements defining internal logic, triggering conditions, data storage, vehicle & cloud interface, power modes, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connection management, etc. Experience with UWB test equipment and specific UWB protocols (e.g., IEEE 802.15.4z, UWB positioning and ranging). Hands on experience with network configuration, traffic analysis, and packet sniffing tools (e.g., Wireshark, AirMagnet, or similar). Hands-on experience with product validation in both lab environments and real-world deployment scenarios. Develop detailed sub-system & system level (end to end) test plans, incorporating wireless communication testing (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth). Minimum Requirements:
BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related to job responsibilities. Experience writing test plans 5+ years of experience in wireless communication testing with a strong focus on Wi-Fi, BLE, and UWB technologies. Experience with Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and Wi-Fi 7 standards and advanced features of Bluetooth (e.g., BLE Mesh, Bluetooth LE Audio). Thorough understanding of embedded module architecture: Microcontrollers, SoC, Flash, RAM, device drivers, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth modules. Thorough understanding of vehicle to cloud connectivity: VLAN, VPN, TCP/IP stack, etc., with associated security elements like SSL, message-level encryption, code signing, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth security protocols. Good overall understanding/experience with high-speed communication buses like USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc., for automotive applications. Detailed understanding of configuration and software reflash through OTA reflash mechanisms, with specific experience in wireless protocol updates for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. Preferred Requirements:
Familiarity with UWB technologies for device positioning and ranging (e.g., IEEE 802.15.4z), and testing in real-world scenarios. Knowledge of RF test and measurement equipment and techniques for advanced Wi-Fi, BLE, and UWB testing. Expertise in network security protocols (e.g., WPA3, Bluetooth LE security) and their impact on wireless communication.
