Overview Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Division of Enrollment & Student Success at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking a student-focused and collaborative professional to join our team as the Assistant Director of Admission for Online Programs. The Assistant Director of Admission, Online Programs is an energetic and highly service-oriented professional, responsible for growing enrollment for online graduate programs offered by Teachers College, Columbia University (TC). The incumbent will play a critical role in supporting the College’s enrollment goals by attracting, engaging, and guiding prospective students through the application and enrollment process for TC’s graduate online master’s, doctoral, and certificate programs. The Assistant Director will initiate communications, respond to inquiries, coordinate events, and review applications to help grow online enrollment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of virtual recruitment tools, and a commitment to expanding access to graduate education through high-quality online programs.

Responsibilities

Liaison for Online Programs:

Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students interested in online programs, providing timely and accurate information about admission requirements, flexibility, and program expectations.

Counseling and Recruitment:

Provide higher level counseling to prospective and admitted students through various modalities (including in-person, telephone, email, zoom, mail or text).

Virtual Recruitment:

Coordinate and host innovative virtual recruitment events, including online information sessions, webinars, drop-in advising hours as well as yield events to ensure enrollment goals are met.

Admissions Collaboration:

Work closely with faculty in application preparation, application review, finalizing admission decisions, implementing changes to the admission application, and regular reporting of requested admission data.

Strategic Alignment:

Attend online program working group meetings to provide updates, discuss strategy, and share outcomes.

Data-Driven Tracking:

Analyze enrollment data and recruitment metrics to assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts and adjust strategies to meet enrollment goals.

Supervision:

Supervision of student worker.

Industry Awareness:

Stay current on industry best practices in online education, virtual engagement, and graduate enrollment trends.

Marketing and Communications

Content Collaboration:

Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to create emails, FAQs, video, social media posts, and other forms of compelling content that highlight the benefits of TC’s graduate online programs.

Campaign Monitoring:

Work with the Marketing & Communications team to monitor marketing campaign performance, share ideas, source partnership opportunities, and conduct research on competitors.

General Recruitment

Campus and Virtual Engagement:

Support College-wide recruitment and yield events through participation in on-campus, off-campus, and virtual events (tours, information sessions, Open Houses, etc.) to speak to any interest in online programs.

Other Duties:

Other duties, committees, and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in education, experience or training

2-4 years of previous admission and recruitment experience, or experience in higher education, student services, counseling or advising

Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Strong presentation skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite

Proficiency with CRM systems (such as Slate, Salesforce), virtual meeting platforms, and digital outreach tools

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote or hybrid environment

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Willingness to travel locally, nationally, and internationally for recruitment

Willingness to work some evening and occasional weekend hours

Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, including academic programs, marketing, and student support services

Valid driver\'s license

Preferred Qualifications

Master\'s degree

Experience recruiting for online degree programs in a graduate or professional school setting

Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including paid search, email marketing, and social media engagement

Experience with Slate

Salary Range $62,000 - $70,000

Work Modality Hybrid

The salary range reflects the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

Employees are expected to live within a 150-mile radius of the College.
