Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) Oncology Resource The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, known as one of the pioneers in personalized cancer medicine and an international leader in cancer research and treatment, advances early detection and targeted therapies to improve patient outcomes. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Provide patient care in Community Oncology Clinics under allied health privileges granted by OHSU; work under the supervision of the Section Head for Community Oncology. See up to 15 patients a day, address urgent needs, evaluate treatment tolerance, review labs, and modify orders as needed. See new patients in conjunction with the attending physician; write chemotherapy orders when treatment plan has been initiated by the attending physician in credentialed privileges. Manage patient anticoagulation, as appropriate. Collaborate with phone triage staff to manage patient issues and see patients emergently as add-on/walk-ins as appropriate or requested by the attending physician. Admit patients to community hospitals in collaboration with the attending physician; round on patients in community hospitals as requested by the attending physician in credentialed privileges.
