Overview The Phlebotomist III- Floats represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The role involves drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for lab testing, and interacting with patients to create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
Responsibilities
Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
Maintain direct patient contact, explain procedures, and perform blood draws in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
Provide coverage at multiple locations for multiple roles, ensuring daily activities of the Patient Service Center/Mobile/Long Term Care/In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.
Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence and confidentiality of patient information; may be assigned to lead on-site activities in a doctor\'s office, PSC, house call environment, long term care, or as needed.
Step in for a Phlebotomist III- Float and lead one or more PSR on site; coach, mentor, and onboard new employees or clients as required.
Serve as a point of contact to on-site staff and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor.
Handle high-complexity and/or high-volume practice with specialized focus requiring strong phlebotomy, customer-facing, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration (Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, Logistics).
Manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
Five years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
Keyboard/data entry experience.
