We are looking for anAnimal CareTechnician I(rodent husbandry) to join ourInsourcing Solutionsteam locatedinRedwood City, CA. How will you have an impact? In the ACTI role,you will provide the highest animal welfare standards and care, in addition to maintaining vivarium cleanliness. Why work at Charles River? In the Animal Care Technician I role, you will observe, monitor and document the health and physical environment within the client’s animalfacility. Perform animal care and husbandry. ● Monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations. Performanimal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of research animals, to include: perform dailywater bottle /automatic water line and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water; perform cagechanging and/or cage cleaning as required; record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specifiedprotocols. ● Perform daily cage wash duties and sanitation. ● Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas asrequired by Institute and facility. ● Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species as assigned by the on-sitesupervisor or facility veterinarian. ● Receive, inspect and put away incoming animals; ensure and provide for sentinel animals in eachrodent housing area. ● May be involved in strictly maintaining and following breeding and weaning procedures to ensureappropriate production levels. ● Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines; perform general housekeepingand adhere to safety procedures. Who are we looking for?

A candidate that possesses a High School diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S) in animal or life sciences field preferred. Minimum of one year related rodent laboratory animal experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.AALAS certification at the ALAT level/CALAS preferred. Proficiency with basic animal identification methods (UID microchip injection experience is aplus). The pay range for this position is $27.40 - 28.50 per hour.Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
