Summary The Radiology Technologist will operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the ER Physician following Radiologist-approved protocols. The technologist will be proficient in patient positioning and the examination table setup to obtain optimal views as requested by the physician. Additionally, the technologist will practice radiation safety techniques, including beam restriction, patient shielding, and exposure management, adhering to the ALARA principle to ensure safety for patients and staff.
The technologist will also operate CT scan equipment to produce diagnostic images, administer contrast agents (IV and oral) with proper consent, and document all procedures accurately. Our primary goal is to ensure patient safety and satisfaction while acquiring high-quality diagnostic images.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain awareness of departmental and operational policies.
Assist in equipment maintenance, cleaning, and quality assurance procedures.
Explain procedures and associated risks to patients.
Prepare patients for examinations, including contrast administration and IV placement.
Complete all necessary forms related to contrast, extravasations, pregnancy, and other procedures.
Follow safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure.
Stay current with diagnostic radiology and CT procedures.
Understand basic anatomy and physiology to optimize imaging techniques.
Perform minor repairs and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Use radiological and lab equipment proficiently.
Use proper body mechanics to prevent injuries.
Apply radiology safety principles diligently.
Recognize limitations and seek guidance when needed.
Communicate effectively regarding departmental activities.
Transport patients safely to and from care units.
Requirements Supervisory Responsibilities None
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Minimum of 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience and CT experience.
Language/Math/Reasoning Skills
Ability to understand instructions, communicate effectively, and interpret data.
Proficiency in basic math and data interpretation.
Certificates and Licenses
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Current state licensure.
BLS certification (Texas: ARRT (R) (CT); Colorado and Rhode Island: ARRT (R) (CT)).
