Summary
The Radiology Technologist will operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the ER Physician following Radiologist protocols. The technologist will proficiently position patients and examine tables to obtain optimal views of the specified areas. Radiation safety practices, including beam restriction, patient shielding, and appropriate exposure techniques, will be maintained to ensure safety for patients and staff.
Additionally, the Technologist will operate CT scan equipment to produce diagnostic CT images as directed by the ER Physician and in accordance with Radiologist protocols. Responsibilities include administering contrast (IV and oral), obtaining patient consent, monitoring for reactions, and ensuring proper documentation. Our primary goal is to ensure patient safety and satisfaction while acquiring high-quality diagnostic images.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to departmental and operational policies of NEC.
Maintain and troubleshoot radiology equipment, including cleaning and quality assurance procedures.
Explain procedures and risks to patients.
Prepare patients for examinations, including contrast administration and IV placement.
Complete all necessary forms related to contrast, extravasations, pregnancy, etc.
Follow safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure.
Stay current with diagnostic radiology and CT procedures.
Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiology principles to obtain diagnostic images.
Operate and troubleshoot radiology and CT equipment.
Use proper body mechanics to prevent injury during patient and equipment handling.
Seek guidance when limitations are encountered.
Communicate effectively regarding departmental activities.
Transport patients safely to and from care areas.
Requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Minimum 1 year of radiologic/imaging and CT experience. Skills and Abilities: Ability to read and understand instructions, memos, and correspondence. Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to interpret data and graphs, and apply common sense to instructions. Certificates and Licenses Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current state licensure. Current BCLS certification.
