Overview

The Department of Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive and episodic care for patients with gastrointestinal disorders in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at ambulatory GI practices located at White Marsh and Bayview. The Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to optimize team performance and patient outcomes and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age-appropriate care to both well and/or ill patients. Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities: Establishes joint practice with designated providers where follow-up patients are seen and cared for in tandem with the provider\'s clinic; establishes a primary practice separate from a designated provider to triage and review urgent add-on patients; helps manage and triage complex care; reviews difficult cases with the physician and less complex cases independently; reviews intake forms and past medical records for appropriateness; performs detailed patient interviews and physicals; creates detailed patient care plans and provides patient education; counsels and teaches patients and family members regarding disease processes and outcomes; documents data in EPIC; communicates with collaborators and referring providers; makes referrals as indicated; reviews and interprets test results and communicates results to patients; provides telephonic or electronic MyChart responses; handles prescription refills and tracks ongoing medications; assists with medication prior authorizations and appeals; assists with procedure pre-authorizations as needed. Customer Service & Teamwork: Warmly greets patients, visitors, and colleagues; handles patient inquiries with courteous communication; resolves patient complaints non-defensively; supports colleagues and contributes to a collaborative office environment. Computer Knowledge: Proficient with computers for email, scheduling, documentation; complete EPIC and HIPAA training; perform other duties as needed to support clinic efficiency. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Master\'s Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner; licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland. American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR Certification. Familiarity with regulations governing NPs in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Must complete the JH Bayview credentialing process prior to start date; must maintain licensure and certifications for the duration of employment. Additional experience may substitute for a Master\'s Degree, per the Johns Hopkins equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications

Graduate school clinical rotation in Gastroenterology. Recent medical/surgical experience with GI practice. Job Details
