DESCRIPTION Decypher is seeking Critical Care Nurse — Cardiac Cath Lab to support Mike O\' Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC), 99th Medical Treatment Facility, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Graduate of a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Experience: Minimum of two years of nursing experience post-graduation At least one year of experience in Critical Care or Cath Lab settings Licensure/Registration: Must hold a current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license Valid license to practice in any of the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands Certifications: Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS)
Responsibilities
Must be able to stand while wearing up to 25 pounds of PPE for up to 4 hours or more. Carry out prescribed physician orders and document in patient medical record. Possess knowledge of pharmacological agents used in treatment, including effects, side effects, complications, dosage, and accurate administration including dosage calculations as required. Administer prescribed medications including multiple medication drips and intravenous push drugs (e.g., sedatives, narcotics, vasoactive medications, neuromuscular blockades, antidysrhythmics, antihypertensives, thrombolytics, and emergency drugs) in accordance with protocols, policies, and references. Assess and document patient response to medications and intervene if the desired response is not achieved. Conduct preoperative and postoperative visits; discuss Cardiac Catheterization and diagnostic cardiac testing procedures with patients and inform them of what to expect; consult with the physician and establish priorities of care for each patient. Apply cardiac monitor leads and 12-lead ECG; analyze rhythm strips and notify the physician of abnormal results; interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to emergent changes. Coordinate patient care through a continuum to achieve optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality, and cost effectiveness. Provide professional nursing care to patients undergoing Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and diagnostic cardiac testing procedures. Prepare and maintain Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory for routine and emergency procedures. Assemble materials and equipment needed for daily procedures and potential emergencies. Support Cardiovascular, Interventional Radiology (IR), Vascular, Pulmonary Clinic, and Gastroenterology (GI) procedures or clinical care activities, including but not limited to bronchoscopies, transesophageal echocardiograms, cardioversions, CT-guided procedures, dobutamine stress echocardiograms, endoscopies, electrophysiology (EP), and related procedures; provide pre-procedure preparations, assessments, and postprocedure recovery in the PACU. During procedures, perform pre-procedure preparations and assessments; manage intraprocedure vital signs/hemodynamics, assessments, and medications; provide postprocedure recovery and transportation to MSU CCU/PACU. Support administrative roles in the lab, including preparing patient charts before procedures and breaking down charts afterward; educate and train new Cardiovascular Laboratory Nurses and Staff; assist in maintaining lab programs (safety, infection control, supply, radiation safety, etc.). Support Cardiopulmonary Clinic procedures or clinical care activities, including cardiac stress testing, EKGs, Holter monitoring, telephone consults, patient check-ins, and other clinic duties as assigned. Assist other nursing units as directed; cath lab cases take priority, and the nurse may be required to return to the cath lab during floated time. Coordinate patient care with a wide array of healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes in clinical care, quality, and cost effectiveness. Administer medications and assist with cardiac stress tests (exercise, nuclear, and stress echocardiograms) and other personalized interventions.
