This role is an onsite position requiring full-time presence at our Kenilworth, New Jersey office. To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to execute all essential duties efficiently and meet the educational and experience requirements to maintain quality standards and timely delivery of results. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support daily operation within the microbiology laboratory performing routine and project-specific testing while ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Microbial Content testing of cosmetics and OTCs from raw materials to finished goods and in-vivo testing. Support suitability testing preparation and process, Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET), and inoculation projects as needed. Assist with growth promotion testing and routine water testing with environmental monitoring of lab and pilot plant. Microbial identification and maintenance, plate count and subculture; preparation of microbiological media and reagents (broths, slants, agar plates, sterile saline tubes/jars, polysorbate, KCl). Sterilization and autoclaving of microbiological waste, glassware, and tools; cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment (e.g., water baths, fume hood, BSC hood). Transporting glassware for washing and assisting in cleaning laboratory areas; assisting with inoculations and plate reading. Accurate and timely recording of data in laboratory notebooks; peer review of data for accuracy, integrity, and protocol compliance; practice of aseptic technique. Follow SOPs and schedules consistently, with exceptional organization and cleanliness in the lab; diligently prevent cross-contamination of BSL 1-2 organisms. Restock and transport laboratory supplies between areas; drafting instructions for equipment and work. Education and Experience
A B.S. in Microbiology or a related field is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates. Experience in a cGMP/GLP environment; aseptic technique is a plus. Communication Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Business ethics and compliance. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and procedural compliance. Initiative and strong problem-solving/analytical skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple repetitive tasks weekly. Strong organizational skills and flexibility; collaborative mindset to work effectively with team members. Physical Requirements
On-site role; ability to walk, sit, stand; handle and sanitize waste; use thermal gloves for autoclaved items. Reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel; vision for reading bacterial colonies, microscope slides, documents, and inspection of materials.
