Summary Of Job Description
Provide support to reduce isolation, promote self-empowerment, enhance quality of life and serve the needs of consumers and their families through peer support, advocacy, education and outreach. Ensure services are provided in a holistic and culturally sensitive process, which promote the dignity, respect, safety and maximum optimal functioning of the individual. Provide a living example of hope for others with mental illnesses. Act as a role model of recovery for the consumer. High School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge in the basic concepts of peer support including an understanding of the 10 fundamental Components of Recovery. Personal experience with the mental health system provided in King County. Certified Peer Counselor who completed a specialized training provided or contracted by the Washington State Mental Health Division (MHD) Preferred. Willingness to learn new skills as needed. Knowledge and understanding of bicultural issues and needs. Ability to tell their own recovery and resiliency story in ways that are culturally relevant to the mental health consumer(s). Registered with the Washington State Department of Health as an agency affiliated counselor. Experience with peer counseling, health education and/or public speaking preferred. Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing both English and Spanish preferred. Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation with insurance

WORK SCHEDULE
This full-time therapy position works a typical schedule of
8 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday .
SALARY
$18.99 to $23.56 /hr. depending on experience, qualifications and credentials.
