CT Technologist - Main CT Scanning - Full Time - Rotating
$58.80/hr - $60.60/hr
Description Operate CT scanners to obtain diagnostic images of specified body parts as requested. The technologist must produce quality images for radiologist interpretation and function independently with minimal supervision.
Job Responsibilities
Greet patients by introducing yourself and verifying their name and birthdate.
Take pertinent patient history, review order for procedure, and check documentation, current medications, allergy information, and completed questionnaire.
Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and ensure understanding.
Anticipate patient needs, keep patients and families informed of delays, answer questions, and address concerns by following up or contacting someone who can help.
Communicate professionally with all customers, coworkers, physicians, and their office staff, respecting differences.
Adhere to all hospital/Imaging Center policies and Excel core values, striving to exceed expectations.
Position patients, scan, and archive procedures according to established protocols, producing diagnostic images within quality control parameters.
Utilize proper venipuncture techniques for contrast media administration as necessary. Administer contrast media according to protocol or physician direction and label syringes appropriately.
Properly identify, prepare, administer, and document various medications used during procedures.
Reconcile patient medications to ensure no interaction with contrast media used.
Complete all work in a timely, efficient, and productive manner.
Assist coworkers in other modalities as appropriate, such as starting IVs, completing computer functions, and preparing patients.
Assist physicians with invasive procedures as applicable.
Verify physician orders for accuracy and act accordingly.
Utilize appropriate radiation-reducing techniques without compromising high-quality images.
Protect patients, self, and other personnel from radiation exposure.
Wear and store dosimeter appropriately, switching out monthly and in a timely manner.
Use appropriate devices for moving patients to protect both the patient and self.
Observe patients and assist as necessary to minimize the risk of falls or other injuries.
Skills
Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation, and sterile techniques/procedures.
Patient positioning and equipment operation (x-ray machines and printers).
Preferred Skills
Minimum 2 years of related experience.
Education
Graduation from an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology school.
Certifications & Licensure
ARRT
Ohio License as Radiographer
BLS (American Heart Association)
