The following APPs may be considered for this role: Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Primary Nurse Practitioner, Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Schedule
Work schedule: Full-time, benefited. Day shift, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Rotating responsibilities. No weekends, holidays, or call. CME allowance: Full-time benefited APPs receive an annual $2,000 CME allowance for recertification, applicable fees, CME courses, etc., after start date. UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic Urology team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience as an APP and a strong interest in patient care. The APP will play a vital role in providing high-quality, collaborative care in outpatient settings. This position will rotate between UAB St. Vincent's East and TKC Urology. Key Responsibilities
Perform and manage inpatient urology consults in coordination with the urology team. Conduct daily outpatient care of urology patients. Increase both new and return patient access to care. Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Duties & Responsibilities
Based on thorough physical and psychosocial patient assessments, formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans focused on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease. Plans include patient and family education, prescriptions, additional lab and diagnostic testing, and therapies. Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and care provided. Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests for the patient. Maintain records and reports as required by regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission. May coordinate and participate in performance and quality improvement activities. May assist in coordinating research protocols, serving as a patient advocate and a liaison between the patient and other health care providers. Provide assistance in orientation and/or training of new clinical personnel as needed. Provide educational information by conducting workshops, in-service training and distributing appropriate materials for patients and staff. Serve as the expert clinical resource to the clinical staff and patients in the area of specialty. Provide a safe environment for patients and others. Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in Nursing with an Adult Primary, NP, Family NP, or Adult Acute Care NP certification, or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required. Work experience may not substitute for education requirement. Licenses/Certifications/Registrations
Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse with CRNP Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing or licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. BLS is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, ACLS and/or PALS may be required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of procedures, protocols, information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, disease and deformities Knowledge of computer systems, tools and programs Written and verbal communication skills Interpersonal skills Self-directed/self-motivated Ability to multi-task Problem-solving Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently Ability to maintain patient confidentiality Disclaimer
