Under general direction, performs and interprets a variety of high‑complexity laboratory tests in the Cytopathology laboratory to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Procedures include screening, preparation, processing, and reporting of specimens. Responsibilities
Initiate delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in laboratory activities for the patient population served. Establish and implement a system for receipt, identification, and control of specimens. Prepare specimens for analysis according to specifications. Select, perform, monitor, and evaluate cytochemical procedures for assessing cellular constituents. Examine microscopically stained smears for evidence of malignancy or abnormalities; mark suspicious cells for evaluation by the pathologist and record test results according to established protocols. Prepare reagents; maintain reagent log and control system. Maintain equipment and instruments in good working order; ensure appropriate levels of supplies and reagents are on hand. May perform administrative and clerical duties as needed. Assist in the proficiency testing program in the laboratory. Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and education. Experience

Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication; ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs. Rare climbing. Licenses & Certifications
