Physician Assistant - ED

Berkshire Health Systems . Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, is seeking a motivated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Emergency Department (ED) team. As a PA in the ED, you will work under the supervision and collaborative practice of attending physicians to assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients in emergency situations. Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, review of medications, and identification of symptoms. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests and imaging studies, to aid in diagnosing and treating patients. Collaborate with the attending physician to formulate accurate and timely medical diagnoses. Develop treatment plans, including prescription medications, therapeutic interventions, and patient education materials, according to established guidelines. Provide direct patient care, including suturing, wound care, splinting, and reduction of fractures and dislocations. Administer medications and perform medical procedures, including IV access, cardiac monitoring, and airway management, under the supervision of attending physicians. Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, such as nurses, technicians, and consultants, to ensure streamlined patient care delivery. Document patient encounters, including medical histories, physical examinations, test results, treatments provided, and patient outcomes, in compliance with medical record documentation standards. Stay updated with current research, advancements, and best practices in emergency medicine to enhance clinical knowledge and delivery of evidence-based care. Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that patients receive appropriate and timely medical attention and that their concerns are addressed in a compassionate and respectful manner. About Us & Benefits
