Job Description And Duties The incumbent, under the supervision of the Chief of the Office of Specialty Investigations at Structure Maintenance and Investigations (SM&I), is required to: (1) plan, prepare, perform, report, oversee and direct the safety inspections and evaluations of in-service highway tunnels on the state or local highway networks in accordance with 23 CFR Part 650 Subpart E National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS), focusing primarily on the electrical and electronic systems and the electrical and electronic components of other functional systems, and (2) receive work assignments from and provide assistance to the Tunnel Inspection Branch Chief, who has overall responsibility for the inspection program, with any delegated duties and/or aspects of the program. The incumbent may also be required to plan, prepare, perform, report, oversee and direct the safety inspections and evaluations of in-service highway movable bridges on the state or local highway networks in accordance with 23 CFR Part 650 Subpart C National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), focusing primarily on the electrical and electronic systems and the electrical and electronic components of other functional systems. This position requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Electrical) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers for appointment. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle. In order to apply for this position, you must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) highlighting your education, training, and applicable experience that qualifies you for this position in addition to the standard application form. A resume cannot be submitted in lieu of the SOQ. The SOQ should be typed in Century Gothic, 11-point font, no more than 2 pages in length, and address the following topics (include each topic as a heading): Describe your experience and duration performing inspections of electrical and/or electronic systems of tunnels per NTIS Describe your experience and duration in design, analysis, construction, and/or maintenance of electrical and/or electronic systems of tunnels Describe your experience and duration in inspections of electrical and/or electronic systems of bridges per NBIS Describe your experience and duration in design, analysis, construction, or maintenance of electrical and/or electronic systems of bridges Describe your experience and duration in design, analysis, construction, or maintenance of electrical and/or electronic systems of buildings, plants or stations List your Professional Electrical Engineer License and date obtained, and the State(s) where registered Summarize any graduate degree (MS, ME, PhD) in Electrical Engineering or related field with completion date Minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
