Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer Department of Transportation

Job Description and Duties Provides technical support to maintenance personnel to maintain the BASE system in the district. Work with team members to research, design, implement and maintain the Department’s BASE telecommunications system which monitor various Bay Area transportation structures via wireless radios and other network devices, provides documentation on research and write reports or studies to management or control agencies for project implementation. The incumbent prepares plans, specifications and estimates for the projects related to BASE and other related matters. Incumbent is responsible for maintenance of various elements of the BASE system and work with electrical engineers, technicians contractors and HQ Telecommunication engineer for coordinating the maintenance activities in the field.

Provides technical support to maintenance personnel to maintain the power distribution system in the district. Work with team members, field maintenance staff and contractors to troubleshoot various field electrical and electronic devices providing electrical supply to Toll Bridges and Tunnels and Tubes.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer (Supervisor) exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Statement of qualifications (SOQ) required.
