BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a Fortune 500 company, has an opening for an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport, TN. The Instrumentation engineer will support design, construction, and commissioning of various multi-million dollar modernization programs as well as day-to-day project support at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant. Holston AAP has provided high-quality explosives for our war fighters since WWII and, with your help, will continue to push the frontier of energetic material synthesis and manufacturing. Responsibilities
Responsible for the preparation, review, and approval of instrument specification data sheets Responsible for the preparation of equipment lists, instrument index, loop sheets, I/O lists Ensure production of drawings, specifications, reports and analysis meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements Ensure design documents adhere to applicable governing codes (NEC, NFPA, ISA, UFC, etc.) Participate in reviews of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) Participate in Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) to consider safety aspects to equipment, personnel, public and environment Meet with plant technical staff to discuss technical information and features Prepare sketches and perform calculations for a detailed segment of a project Prepare equipment specifications, inquiry (RFQ) and purchase requisitions for approval Evaluate vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications Communicate equipment design to project personnel and other disciplines Participate in preparation of design guides, guide specifications, and contract proposals including basis of estimate (BOE) and statement of work (SOW) Develop Electrical Area Classification (EAC) documents for instrumentation installations in hazardous areas Participate in plant start-ups and field assignments as required; can include equipment inspections at vendor facilities May participate with construction personnel concerning constructability issues as related to field conditions, sequencing and scheduling of construction activities Education, Experience & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related degree and 4+ years of applicable experience Experience in the development of Instrumentation and Valve Specifications Experience in the design of PLC or DCS based control systems Knowledge of National Electrical Code requirements for industrial facilities and hazardous locations May consider candidates with fewer years of experience for a more junior role or additional experience for a more senior role Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
Experience in the design of industrial chemical manufacturing facilities Experience with Department of Defense or explosives manufacturing AutoCAD and instrumentation specification and sizing software Ability to obtain Professional Engineering License in TN and VA Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $77,814 - $132,283 Please note: This range is based on market pay structures. Individual salaries are determined by factors including skills, education, experience, local market conditions, and internal equity. Benefits
