Overview

We’re seeking an accomplished Assistant Director of Banquets to lead day-to-day banquet operations and deliver flawless events across weddings, galas, conferences, and high-touch corporate functions. You will manage a union workforce, uphold luxury service standards, and partner cross-functionally to maximize guest satisfaction, team engagement, and financial performance. Pay: $70-80K + Bonus Responsibilities

Lead daily execution of all banquet events from pre-con to breakdown, ensuring seamless service, accuracy of BEOs/function sheets, and brand-standard presentation. Oversee floor operations, labor deployment, and union staffing in compliance with Local 6 rules and hotel policies. Conduct site walks, pre-shifts, and post-event reviews; coach captains and servers to elevate service and anticipate guest needs. Collaborate with Culinary, Stewarding, Catering/Sales, AV/Production, and Rooms to align timelines, layouts, and service flows. Analyze business practices to identify revenue opportunities and cost savings; manage ordering, inventory, and cost control. Maintain SOPs, safety/sanitation, and service standards; drive continuous improvement and colleague engagement. Serve as acting Director of Banquets in their absence; perform additional duties as assigned. Focus of Effort

Event execution and floor leadership: 60% SOP study/evaluation and operational improvements: 25% Business/practice analysis for revenue growth and cost savings: 15% Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management (or related field). 5–7 years in luxury hotels as Senior Banquet Manager or Assistant Director of Banquets. Proven experience working within a Local 6 union environment. Deep knowledge of banquet service standards, union procedures/regulations, and large-scale event operations. Strong oral/written communication; poised, professional, and guest-centric. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced setting. Skilled negotiator and conflict resolver; calm under pressure with impeccable attention to detail. Team builder who fosters accountability, recognition, and high morale. Preferred/Technical Skills

Expertise with Meeting Matrix (event layouts), Delphi (sales/catering), Microsoft Word/Excel. Familiarity with Timesaver (workforce management) and HotSOS (service/maintenance tickets). Knowledge of luxury brand hallmarks, guiding principles, and policy/procedure adherence. Strong understanding of interdepartmental hotel operations and their impact on banquet success.
