*REPOST* Open Recruitment for State Highway Administration. Team Leader (Transportation Engineer Manager I), Grade 20 (0515) SP#25-52-20. This position is open to applicants who meet the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. Nature of work To serve as the Team Leader for the Traffic Safety Engineering Team in the Traffic Development and Support Division (TDSD). Provide leadership and management of day-to-day operations, evaluate the safety benefits and impacts of transportation projects, and develop recommendations to improve safety. This role requires data analysis, project development, field observations, and research documentation. The Team Leader must possess in-depth knowledge of the crash database to support highway safety engineering, education, and law enforcement efforts. Identify crash patterns indicating systemic safety problems and recommend safety improvements that align with Federal Highway Administration safety goals. The Team Leader also serves as a safety coordinator, overseeing the Highway Safety Improvement Program and developing the annual highway safety report.

Education and Experience Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in professional engineering.
Selective Qualification: Three and a half (3 ½) years of experience must involve traffic engineering. A selective qualification is more focused in scope; substitutions are not allowed for selective qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Working knowledge of national and state guidelines and standards related to transportation engineering and safety analysis for highway networks.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate statewide programs and specific projects.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of database management and data analysis related to road safety.
Notes 1. Additional work experience in professional engineering or technical engineering at the journey level or above may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. 2. A master’s degree in engineering may substitute for one year of non-supervisory experience. 3. Maryland Professional Engineer licensure or equivalent may meet education requirements. 4. A motor vehicle operator’s license valid in Maryland is required.
