Team Leader (Transportation Engineering Manager I)
State Highway Administration (SHA) Office of Traffic and Safety (OOTS) is recruiting for a Team Leader position in Anne Arundel County. The role is open to any qualified applicant. All applicants must submit an online application by the closing date.
Nature of work Serve as the Team Leader for the Traffic Safety Engineering Team in the Traffic Development and Support Division (TDSD). Provide leadership and manage day‑to‑day operations. Evaluate safety benefits and impacts of transportation projects. Develop recommendations to improve safety. Analyze crash databases, coordinate safety projects, and oversee Highway Safety Improvement Program and annual safety report.
Responsibilities
Lead the Traffic Safety Engineering Team and manage daily operations.
Evaluate safety benefits and impacts of transportation projects.
Develop safety recommendations and identify systemic safety problems.
Analyze crash data, maintain safety databases, and support highway safety education, and law enforcement efforts.
Coordinate with highway safety improvement program and produce annual highway safety report.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering from an accredited university.
Seven (7) years of professional engineering experience.
Three and a half (3½) years of experience in traffic engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Working knowledge of national and state guidelines related to transportation engineering and safety analysis.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate statewide programs and specific projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong database management and data analysis skills for highway safety.
