Under the direction of the Director and supervision of the Assistant Director, Division of Animal Health, the Veterinarian will perform tasks for the diagnosis and control of contagious and infectious diseases of livestock and poultry; investigate alleged cases of animal cruelty; conduct and arrange for diagnostic tests; administer laws and regulations regarding animal disease control, quarantines and the movement of livestock; perform surveys, examinations, diagnostic work and related activities; plan, organize, and perform animal cruelty investigations and disease outbreak investigations; prepare reports of case investigations; document legal cases for court admission and act as a witness in prosecutions; conduct educational and outreach programs; develop presentations for professional meetings and stakeholder education; prepare work-related reports and studies; provide assistance to agents of livestock, poultry and other allied agricultural industries, private veterinarians, county extension agents, vocational agriculture teachers/students, state and federal regulators, and other stakeholders; perform other related duties as required. Requirements
VETERINARIAN 1 EDUCATION:
Graduation from an AVMA-approved College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or completion of ECFVG, or PAVE, or achievement of diplomat status in an AVMA specialty board. VETERINARIAN 2 EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience in animal disease control or laboratory diagnostic work. Residency training is not required; necropsy experience with various species is preferred. EDUCATION:
Same as Veterinarian 1 (DVM and AVMA/ECFVG/PAVE/diplomate status). SPECIAL NOTE:
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office. NOTE:
Foreign degrees and/or transcripts from outside the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service at the candidate’s expense. Submit the evaluation with the application if a degree or credits are required. The evaluation must be included with submission; failure to submit may result in ineligibility.
