Summary The Pharmacist, PRN, is responsible for all operations and management of the pharmacy when on duty. They will ensure compliance with all PPRx policies and procedures in accordance with accepted standards of good pharmacy practice according to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and all federal requirements.

The Pharmacist, PRN, will assist customers by interpreting symptoms and providing immediate treatment within the scope of the pharmacist’s license or by successfully referring customers to a suitable care provider. Additionally, the pharmacist will prepare pharmaceuticals by reviewing and interpreting the prescribing care provider’s directives and detecting any therapeutics incompatibilities.

To be successful in this role, the Pharmacist, PRN, must be customer-focused and remain up to date with the latest advances in pharmaceutical care.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Customer Service

Deliver competent care for patients of all age groups and developmental stages

Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy policies, laws, and issues, and coordinate integration of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio.

Accurately dispense medications as per prescriptions and verify their legality

Advise patients on medication use and potential side effects

Answer patient questions about prescribed and over-the-counter medications

Assist with securing Prior Authorization from third-party payers

Communicate payment responsibilities clearly to patients

Coordinate use of interpretive services for effective communication

Support clinical programs to serve patients and the community

Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care

Provide additional services within scope, such as health screenings and minor illness advice

Staff Support

Manage pharmacy operations and oversee staff during shifts

Supervise support staff, delegate tasks, and communicate policies

Keep staff informed and seek feedback

Compliance

Follow all applicable laws and standards

Ensure quality and security of pharmacy operations

Maintain records and support outside agency compliance

Track metrics and provide feedback to leadership

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise Pharmacy Technicians when the Director of Pharmacy is unavailable

Qualifications

Superior communication skills

Expertise in pharmaceutical services and organizational skills

Ability to make independent judgments and solve problems

Commitment to the values of Planned Parenthood

Education And/or Experience

B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy degree

Licensed pharmacist by Ohio Board of Pharmacy or eligible prior to employment

Experience in a community pharmacy

Preferred: residency, board certification, leadership experience
