Under general supervision, the primary duties of a CT Technologist include performing imaging for both neuro and body scans on patients from neonate to geriatric, adhering to age-specific guidelines and facility parameters. Responsibilities encompass conducting examinations according to established protocols, transmitting images for diagnostic interpretation, and ensuring the hospital computer system is kept current with the progress of these exams. This role requires performing a variety of technical scanning procedures with independent judgment and the application of ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. The technologist must also assist physicians in performing procedures, maintain records of examinations, and, where appropriate and licensed, may function as a Radiology Technologist or assist in the Radiology Department. In addition to imaging duties, the CT Technologist is expected to provide quality patient care, perform high-quality images and exams with sensitivity to patient needs, and adhere to safe radiation practices. Demonstrates leadership abilities as a clinical resource and assumes related responsibilities as needed. Adheres to the compliance plan and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, and to accrediting bodies. Performs all exams using FH CT protocols. Identifies patients prior to exams, educates patients concerning exam, screens for contrast allergies, and ensures proper exam supervision and administration. Completes exams in a timely manner, maintains workflow, and facilitates transportation and discharge of outpatients. Operates imaging equipment safely and properly across all ages, adapting protocols as needed; assists in the Radiology Department as required. Provides quality patient care and maintains professional relations; upholds safe radiation practices and organizational standards. Qualifications
